BOOK DANE

With a base in Loch Ken, Scotland, Phil specializes in hunting large perch and pike in both freshwater and saltwater environments, with experience on the rugged Northumbrian coast.

Phil Nichol

I have been a mad keen angler from a young age. I grew up near the Northumberland coast and sea fishing was always my main passion. From fishing harbour piers and jetties as a kid for mini species, fatties and eels etc. Cod fishing from beach and rocks to offshore wreck fishing for big cod and ling etc. When i saw someone launching a fishing kayak from my local beach in 2014, I instantly knew it was the sport for me. I purchased my first kayak in February 2015. Living only 1 mile from the sea it was perfect for me. When I bought a second kayak, my wife Liz began to come out fishing with me and was instantly hooked on it. I gained a lot of experience kayak fishing the rugged Northumbrian coast but the weather could be restrictive. To ensure I could get out kayak fishing all year long I looked to freshwater, fishing for pike and perch on rivers and lakes. I fish mainly fresh water now, lures only, all year round. However I still get out on the sea when conditions allow. We spend most of our time in Scotland, but travel all over the UK to events and trying new waters. I have competed in several tournaments around the country, my best result being 2nd place in the Pitsford Kayak Grand Slam 2021, just missing the top spot by 1cm. I spend most of my time hunting big perch and pike and have a base on the banks of Loch Ken in South West Scotland. We have easy access for launching kayaks and some fantastic perch and pike fishing on our doorstep.
