I am a kayak angler based in south wales with a keen passion for angling I have gained many years of kayak angling experience from fishing the fast flowing tides of the Bristol channel for cod, rays and congers to the hard hitting anglian waters of the midlands for big zander, perch and pike as well as being a regular competitor on the competition scene in the UK. 2022 seen my angling achievements take a step up to taking 1st place pro category wins at 3 of the biggest kayak angling competitions in the UK these included the Swanage classic in may, zandermania at grafham water in June and the Oxwich European kayak event in July.Confident in demonstrating how to use the newest Garmin livescope technology to locate and catch fish, targeting and safe handling of large toothy predatory fish like tope and pike on the kayak and varied aspects of bait and lure fishing.
I have been an angler for as long as I can remember, and a Kayak Angler for nearly 10 years having discovered the joy of stealthy fishing from these incredibly diverse platforms.Fishing from a kayak has transformed the way that I approach my lure fishing, whether it is on a large Reservoir, a Lake District Water or an isolated section of river, the Kayak is the ultimate platform.Over the years, I have had some great captures of Pike to over 32lbs, Perch to 5lbs and Zander to over 10lbs as well as some great success in competitions both in the UK and Europe, with multiple wins, and top 5 finishes.Guided trips with myself will gain you great experience with using the latest Lowrance Active Target technology on a number of different venues in the Midlands targeting our favorite predators, Pike, Perch and Zander.During our one-to-one sessions, not only will you learn valuable kayak skills on the most current peddle powered kayaks and fish finding technology, you will gain experience in different styles of lure fishing and how to target individual fish.
I have been a mad keen angler from a young age. I grew up near the Northumberland coast and sea fishing was always my main passion. From fishing harbour piers and jetties as a kid for mini species, fatties and eels etc. Cod fishing from beach and rocks to offshore wreck fishing for big cod and ling etc. When i saw someone launching a fishing kayak from my local beach in 2014, I instantly knew it was the sport for me. I purchased my first kayak in February 2015. Living only 1 mile from the sea it was perfect for me. When I bought a second kayak, my wife Liz began to come out fishing with me and was instantly hooked on it. I gained a lot of experience kayak fishing the rugged Northumbrian coast but the weather could be restrictive. To ensure I could get out kayak fishing all year long I looked to freshwater, fishing for pike and perch on rivers and lakes. I fish mainly fresh water now, lures only, all year round. However I still get out on the sea when conditions allow. We spend most of our time in Scotland, but travel all over the UK to events and trying new waters. I have competed in several tournaments around the country, my best result being 2nd place in the Pitsford Kayak Grand Slam 2021, just missing the top spot by 1cm. I spend most of my time hunting big perch and pike and have a base on the banks of Loch Ken in South West Scotland. We have easy access for launching kayaks and some fantastic perch and pike fishing on our doorstep.
